Taysir Al-Bayan li Ahkam Al-Qur’an - Ibn Nur ad-Din al-Muzi'i (825H)

It is a book of great benefit and value, containing comparative jurisprudence, language, principles, interpretation of the Qur’an and the Hadith of the Prophet. It is this combination of subjects that distinguishes it from other similar books, and places it at the top of knowledge, moderation, fairness, and even Ijtihad (independent reasoning). This is apparent in the author’s preferences, discussions and inclination for an opinion that may contradict his Shafi’i doctrine, because of his ability as a jurist and his knowledge of jurisprudence, language and eloquence.

It is aptly named. It is easy and clear, due to the smoothness of its style, and the splendour of its approach, as it takes the reader directly to the content of the Verse, with an explanation of the rulings deduced from it, presenting the different kinds of deduction, explaining the doctrines of the jurists in each issue, in a logical order, with clear words, indicating the clarity of the idea and its meaning.

The author, a great Yemeni scholar from the 9th century, Ibn Nur ad-Din an-Muzi'i, does not stop at presenting opinions and sayings, and mentioning the doctrines and differences; but rather, he made some successful judgements and opinions of his own, discussing and inferring, correcting and choosing, which enriches the book’s scientific material, and helps the reader to feel the truth in the event of disagreement.
