As-Suluk fi Tabaqat al-'Ulema wa al-Muluk - Al-Janadi (3 vol.)
السلوك في طبقات العلماء والملوك - الجندي
This book combines between two good things: the biographies of scholars, in terms of their births, attributes and death and a mention of part of some notable kings’ stories.
The author made it a comprehensive summary to mention the two parties, introducing first the scholars for their merit, and praised the kings, who are the shadow of Allah on earth, to whom all the grieved would be sheltered, for Allah deters through the work of the Sultan that which is not deterred through the stipulation of Qur’an.
The author Al-Janadi, may Almighty Allah have mercy on him, a Yemeni historian and scholar (730H circa) enlightened us with this book; he explained the sources of his quotations, and attributed the blessing of knowledge to its owners.
